# Slack

> Read approved Slack channels through a workspace-created bot.

## Setup

Create a Slack app in your workspace from Marina's manifest (manifest below), install it, invite the bot to each approved channel, and paste the Bot User OAuth Token. Marina reads only the channels listed below.

Add the connection under **Settings -> Connections**. Saving verifies it with a read-only test call.

## App manifest

Create the Slack app from this manifest at api.slack.com/apps (Create New App, then "From a manifest"):

```yaml theme={null}
display_information:
  name: Marina
  description: Reads approved channels for this workspace's Marina apps
features:
  bot_user:
    display_name: marina
    always_online: false
oauth_config:
  scopes:
    bot:
      - channels:history
      - channels:read
      - groups:history
      - groups:read
      - users:read
settings:
  org_deploy_enabled: false
  socket_mode_enabled: false
  token_rotation_enabled: false
```

Keep the app private to your workspace. Install it, copy the Bot User OAuth Token (xoxb-...), and invite the bot to each approved channel with /invite.

## Configuration

| Field | Required | Description |
| - | - | - |
| Approved channels | Yes | From each channel's details pane. Apps and dev access can read only these. |

## Allowlist

Apps can read only the channels listed in the connection's approved-channels configuration, and the bot must be invited to each of them.

## Operations

All operations are read-only. Apps declare the ones they use per connection; see [Using connections in apps](/connections/overview).

| Operation | Description |
| - | - |
| `auth.test` | Confirm the bot token and identify its workspace. |
| `channels.list` | Describe the approved channels this connection may read. |
| `messages.list` | Read message history from one approved channel. |
| `replies.list` | Read one thread from an approved channel. |
| `members.list` | List the member ids of one approved channel. |
| `user.get` | Fetch one member of an approved channel, for author resolution. |
