# Remote MCP

> Connect to a remote Model Context Protocol server.

## Setup

Point Marina at a Streamable-HTTP MCP server and paste its access token. List the tool names apps may call; Marina only calls tools that are both approved here and self-described as read-only.

Add the connection under **Settings -> Connections**. Saving verifies it with a read-only test call.

## Configuration

| Field | Required | Description |
| - | - | - |
| Server URL | Yes | [https://mcp.example.com/mcp](https://mcp.example.com/mcp) |
| Approved tools | No | Apps can call only these tools. Leave empty to allow none yet. |

This connector also supports per-person connections: create it with "Each person connects their own account", and each member adds their own credential under **Settings -> Your connections**.

## Allowlist

Apps can call only the tools listed in the connection's approved-tools configuration, and Marina additionally requires each tool to declare itself read-only.

## Operations

All operations are read-only. Apps declare the ones they use per connection; see [Using connections in apps](/connections/overview).

| Operation | Description |
| - | - |
| `tools.list` | List the server's tools, marking which are approved and read-only. |
| `tool.call` | Call one approved, read-only tool. |
